xHP - Engine Tunes & xHP Flashtool

Will xHP work with my specific engine tune?

Yes, in general, xHP will work with any engine tune. However, there are some things to consider for optimal performance.

  • MHD - For 6-speed cars, MHD offers a specific custom option for xHP flashed cars. This option will slightly alter torque management and can further improve shifting. On 8-speed or DCT cars, there are no special options inside MHD. All the MHD OTS maps will work fine.

  • BM3 - All BM3 OTS Maps are tested and work fine with xHP.

  • MGFlasher - All MG Flasher OTS Maps are tested and work fine with xHP.

My DME tuning app offers a “TCU Torque Limiter Fix” or “Limiter Delete.” Should I use this with xHP?

No. These options force the DME (engine control unit) to ignore torque-limiting requests from the transmission. They are essentially a workaround (“band-aid”) to bypass the stock torque limiters inside the TCU.

With xHP, this is not necessary, and we strongly recommend against using such functions. Enabling them can lead to several negative effects, including:

  • Slower, less precise (“spongy”) shifts

  • Deactivation of safety-relevant protections

  • Shortened transmission lifespan

  • Malfunctioning Launch Control

For best performance and reliability, these options must not be activated when using xHP.

I already have a flash tune (MHD, BM3, MG flasher, custom tune, etc.) on my ECU (engine). Do I have to uninstall it before using xHP?

No. xHP does not directly affect your existing engine tune, and the order in which the engine and transmission tunes are flashed does not matter.

I've got a piggyback module, like a JB4, installed. Can I flash xHP?

Yes, xHP will work on piggyback module-equipped cars, but you may need to disable the piggyback module before starting a flash.
In rare cases, the piggyback module must be physically disconnected during the flash operation.
